Technical School

Technical school is an accelerated training program specifically on teaching the skills and knowledge needed for the career field you have selected. The different career fields are give an Air Force specialty code, or AFSC. You will be have hands-on experience, and receive credits toward your Community College of the Air Force associates degree.

Technical school begins after graduation from Basic Training. The duration of training may differ depending on the AFSC, or Specific Carreer, ranging from 6 weeks to two years.

The days are different than what was experienced during basic training. Airmen live in dormatories, but these are set up more like college campus dorms with 2-4 people sharing a room rather than everyone living in one barracks style room. There is no drill instructor telling when to wake up, when to work out, and when to eat. The airmen are able to schedule these thing themselves during the hours that are not dedicated to clssroom instruction.
